Laser surgery for fungal nails and warts

Laser surgery is an effective treatment for fungal nails and warts.

A fungal infection of the toenail can cause the nail to become discoloured, thickened and brittle. To treat fungal nails, the laser is used to reach the infected nail bed in order to eradicate the nail fungus and inhibit further growth. Depending on the severity of the nail fungus, up to three or more treatments at four-week intervals may be necessary.

Laser surgery for warts on the feet involve receiving local anesthesia before applying the laser. The laser is used to eradicate the wart and inhibit further growth. Depending on the severity of the wart, another treatment at a four-week interval may be necessary. Generally, patients can resume their normal activity after receiving the laser surgery.
